IAPH World Ports Conference 2009
Posted on January 13th 2008 | By admin

The IAPH World Ports Conference is a biennial event for the world ports to meet, exchange opinions and share experiences on the latest trends in port management and operations.
IAPH 2009 Conference
The central theme for the 2009 conference will reflect the need for the global ports industry to work openly with customers, suppliers and other stakeholders to address the challenges and opportunities facing ports as critical segments in international logistics chains, both today and in the future.
Some of the most important challenges facing our industry today extend well beyond the boundaries of the port and also impact many other actors across the maritime transport chain, as well as the urban communities alongside which so many ports co-exist.
The ports industry needs an excellent partnership with providers of key services – including finance, port design, operating expertise and technology – to address the crucial internal issues of infrastructure funding and optimised capacity.
The event provides an outstanding platform for networking and to source and evaluate state-of-the-art port and maritime technology showcased at the events exhibition.
IAPH 2009 offers this Welcome Address:
IAPH as the global alliance of ports and harbours is pleased to announce that its 26th World Port Conference will be held for the first time in Italy in none other than the historic port of Genoa from the 25th to the 29th May 2009.
The Conference themed “Oriented to the Market , Open to the future ” has been restructured in line with Iaph objectives to be relevant, focussed and business-like. Views and discussions on maritime and trade-related issues and challenges facing the world port community are included. Topical amongst these is the pivotal role of Ports as agents of change to lead tom an abatement of the effects of climate change by deploying best practices experienced by the major and leading ports of the world.
Genoa, which reflects a port cum city has always been pictured as exuding the charms of its old world surroundings. It is still very much the same albeit the leading port in the country is now one of the thriving hubs of maritime activity in the world.
Welcome to the 26th IAPH World Ports Conference in Genoa next May.
Warmest regards
Datin Paduka O.C. Phang
President IAPH
