The European Dynamic Positioning Conference

Conference overview

The inaugural European Dynamic Positioning Conference has been designed to address the key issues facing owners and operators of ships and rigs, ship and DP system designers, drilling contractors, class, equipment manufacturers and service providers in the development and operation of DP systems in the offshore oil field sector.

The European Dynamic Positioning Conference
The European Dynamic Positioning Conference has been developed in response to calls from the industry for a dedicated international DP event based in Europe and focusing on dynamic positioning in the offshore market sector.

Sessions in The European Dynamic Positioning Conference will feature speakers from users of DP, including shipowners, international organisations involved in developing DP guidelines, independent experts, equipment design firms and service providers, presenting papers which are kept to a 20 minute duration.

The timetable also provides for lively question and answer sessions between the panel and the floor. The proceedings are chaired by David Foxwell, editor of Offshore Support Journal, who draws upon many years of experience in the maritime industry to oversee the knowledgeable and informative discussions.

Following keen interest from the OSV industry in DP sessions at the now well established Annual OSJ Conference, and demand from the industry for a dedicated event focusing on this fast-growing and highly important sector of the market, the European Dynamic Positioning Conference will examine the wide range of issues facing DP operators in the oil field sector, from DP training, the current shortage of DP personnel, use of simulators as a training aid, DP for heavy-lift operations, incident reporting, statistics, FMEA, machinery systems, thrusters, trends/changes in satellite based services, and the role of acoustic and INS.

Other than an exceptional programme of presentations and debate, the key to a successful event is the networking and social opportunities it offers and here we do not intend to disappoint with a pre-conference drinks reception, networking lunch and coffee breaks throughout the event.
